Iris4u - A Family Operated Business State-side and in Europe

Iris4u is a family-operated iris garden in Denver, Colorado. As he is affectionately nicknamed, Iris Bob grows and sells Tall Bearded Iris varieties in the heart of the Mile High City.  A simple request from a former landscaping customer for a pink iris was the catalyst that started Bob's transformation into “Iris Bob”. In 1998, he began hybridizing and introduced his first cultivars in 2005.

For the past 30+ years, Iris4u Garden has grown hundreds of named iris varieties from various hybridizers.  In 2022, the garden and online shop strategically downsized to focus exclusively on VAN LIERE Tall Bearded creations.

The garden was established at its current location in 1994 and was about 1 ¾ acres in its original state. Since then, the garden has undergone quite a few changes. With the addition of adjoining properties, it is now close to 3 acres in size, which makes the garden all the more unique - especially at the height of our bloom season.  Iris4u Greenhouse opened in Hamburg, Germany in 2009, making this family of iris growers  truly international.

As an established hybridizer About-Us-bfor Tall Bearded Iris, Bob has approximately 10,000 seedlings  under evaluation at any given time from previous years to current seedlings still in pots waiting to germinate.  The rigorous selection process is  driven by a commitment to excellence, refelected in Iris4u’s motto: “Growing and Hybridizing Tall Bearded Iris for Beauty, Performance and your Pleasure.” The selection process involves a lot of planting, replanting, and culling to find the few varieties with that unique quality or look.

After 35 remarkable years, Iris4u is preparing to turn the page to a new chapter.  With a mix of emotions, we announce that we are gearing up for our final season.  The past few years have allowed me to enjoy a quieter pace, and now it's time to scale down my workload further.  Reflecting on the countless memories, friendships, and beautiful blooms that have been part of our story, it's been a privilege to share my passion for iris with you all.

Our garden gate will close at the end of this year's bloom season, marking the end of an era.  But, as one chapter closes, another begins.  My love for hybridizing iris will continue, and we look forward to the future with great excitement.  We are currently looking for distributors who will carry on Iris4u's legacy, ensuring that our future iris introductions will find their way to your gardens.

As we begin preparations for our final season, we invite you to visit us, reminisce over the blooms, and celebrate nature's beauty.  Your support and friendship have been the cornerstone of our success, and for that, we are eternally grateful.

Thank you for being part of our journey! Let's make this last season a memorable one!

With heartfelt thanks,

Iris Bob and the Iris4u Garden Team
