2006 Introductions

Loretto Heights

TB, 42" plus, Mid/Late. No bending over to look at this baby! It has 13 - 15 buds on 42 inch stalks which are like tree trunks. Loretto Heights College is just up the street from the garden and is the tallest point around. The standards are a blend of orange/red/rose. The falls have a similar coloring, but with a deeper band along the edge and are accented by the yellow beard.

Whistlers Tune

TB, 34", Mid, 7 plus buds. I have been known to do a little whistling while working and this Iris just wants to make you pucker-up and whistle a happy tune. I could have named this one "Gone Fishing" with its fish-hook like horns. Purple-violet self, heavy on the lace with bright golden hafts. The beard is a golden-orange ending with a horn the same colour as the standards and falls.

Casting Crowns

TB, 34", Mid/Late. This iris, with its 7 plus buds, is the first seedling we really got excited about and expect many neat seedlings to come from this line - hence the name - Casting Crowns. A white self with a golden rim on the standards. The beard is a bright orange/red.

Sisters of Loretto

TB, 35", Mid/Late, 7 - 9 beautiful buds.. Loretto Heights College sits up the street from our garden and has been vigilantly watched over by the Sisters of Loretto. This flower is named after these women and their commitment to justice and peace. The standards and falls have a light yellow with a rosy/red/pink overlay which gets darker at the edges. The orange beard throws out a yellow line down the face of the fall.

  Grateful Praise

TB, 36", Mid, 7 buds. The standards are a creamy pink with yellow blended in to create darker edges. The falls are a yellow-gold which get lighter in the center offsetting an orange beard. This is a sibling to Grateful Heart which we introduced in 2005. It's my way of saying "Thank You" to my Lord and Saviour for healing me from Myesthenia Gravis which struck me at the onset of 2004. I became completely free of medication in the summer of 2005.
