Iris Companion Plants

What can I plant with my iris?

The tall bearded iris is a great plant to add height to your flower beds. They also come in a wide array of colors from soft pastels, white, burgundy, bronze to blue-black. Planting iris in your garden not only adds flamboyance but also great value.

When looking for companion plants, personal preference is the most important, but the bearded iris can be successfully combined with most plants that allow it to receive the sun it needs.

Here is a list of suggested companion plants:

Pansies

Foxgloves

Lupines

Columbine

Heritage and modern roses

Euphorbia

Astrantias,

Aconitum

Geraniums

Dianthus

Be careful with Peonies and Hostas since they need both heavier soil and more water.
